University for Peace (UPEACE) is an international institution of higher education dedicated to the study of peace and conflict resolution. Established in 1980 by the United Nations General Assembly, UPEACE aims to provide a unique global academic platform for the sharing and dissemination of knowledge on issues related to peace, conflict, and sustainability. The idea for the University for Peace was proposed in the United Nations Charter itself, but it wasn't until 1980 that the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 35/55, establishing UPEACE. The university's mandate is to provide humanity with an international institution of higher education for peace, with the aim of promoting among all human beings the spirit of understanding, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

The main campus of UPEACE is situated in Ciudad Colón, just outside of San José, Costa Rica.
