The University of Cyprus (UCY) was established in 1989 and admitted its first students in 1992. It is located in Nicosia, the capital of the Republic of Cyprus. The university was founded to provide higher education and promote research in Cyprus. Initially, it offered programs in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
