The University of Nairobi (UoN) is a public university located in Nairobi, Kenya. It is one of the largest and oldest universities in Kenya and has been a significant contributor to the country's higher education landscape since its establishment. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across various fields, including medicine, engineering, law, arts, and sciences.

The University of Nairobi traces its origins back to 1956, when it was founded as the Royal Technical College. The institution was part of a larger plan to provide higher technical education in East Africa. It later became the second university college in East Africa under the University of London in 1961, named the Royal College Nairobi. In 1970, it gained full university status and was renamed the University of Nairobi, marking a significant milestone in the development of higher education in Kenya.
