The University of Zambia (UNZA) is a public university located in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. Established in 1965, it is the oldest and largest university in the country. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various fields of study.

The University of Zambia was established following the recommendations of the Lockwood Commission, which was tasked with evaluating the need for higher education in Zambia. The university was officially opened on July 12, 1966, by the first President of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda.
