Upson County, Georgia is a county located in the west-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 26,320. The county seat is Thomaston, which is also the largest city within the county. Upson County is part of the Thomaston, GA Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Atlanta-Athens-Clarke County-Sandy Springs, GA Combined Statistical Area.

Upson County was created on December 15, 1824, from parts of Crawford and Pike counties. It is named after Stephen Upson, a lawyer and legislator who was influential in the county's formation. The area has a rich history, with many buildings and sites dating back to the 19th century, reflecting its past significance in agriculture and textile manufacturing.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 328 square miles, of which 323 square miles is land and 5.2 square miles (1.6%) is water.
