Ussr
USSR or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (Russian: Союз Советских Социалистических Республик, Soyuz Sovetskikh Sotsialisticheskikh Respublik) was a federal socialist state in Northern Eurasia that existed from 1922 to 1991. It was a state controlled by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union with Moscow as its capital in its largest republic, the Russian SFSR.

The USSR was founded in 1922, five years after the Russian Revolution overthrew the monarchy of Czar Nicholas II. Vladimir Lenin was the key architect of the USSR and its first leader, implementing a form of government based on the Marxist-Leninist ideology.
Economy[edit | edit source]
The economy of the USSR was based on a system of state ownership of the means of production, collective farming, industrial manufacturing and centralized administrative planning.
Dissolution[edit | edit source]
The USSR was dissolved in 1991, following a period of political and economic crisis. The Russian Federation is considered the USSR's successor state in diplomatic matters.
