Uytengsu Aquatics Center
Uytengsu Aquatics Center is an outdoor aquatics venue located on the campus of the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, California. It is named after USC alumnus Fred Uytengsu, a prominent businessman and philanthropist in the Philippines. The facility is home to the USC Trojans swimming and diving teams.
History[edit | edit source]
The Uytengsu Aquatics Center was originally built in 1983 as the McDonald's Olympic Swim Stadium, serving as the venue for the swimming, diving, and synchronized swimming events during the 1984 Summer Olympics. In 2012, a $16 million renovation was initiated, funded by a donation from Fred Uytengsu. The renovated facility, renamed the Uytengsu Aquatics Center, was officially opened in 2014.
Facilities[edit | edit source]
The Uytengsu Aquatics Center features a 50-meter by 25-yard outdoor pool, a diving well with towers, and a recreational pool. The facility also includes a strength and conditioning room, team meeting rooms, coaches' offices, and a scoreboard with video capabilities.
Events[edit | edit source]
In addition to serving as the home venue for the USC Trojans swimming and diving teams, the Uytengsu Aquatics Center has hosted numerous high-profile aquatics events. These include the NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship, the NCAA Women's Water Polo Championship, and the Pac-12 Conference swimming and diving championships.
