Valerie Perrine
Valerie Perrine (born September 3, 1943) is an American actress and model. She is best known for her role as Eve Teschmacher in the 1978 film Superman and its 1980 sequel Superman II. Perrine's performance in Lenny (1974) earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress and won her the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Valerie Ritchie Perrine was born in Galveston, Texas. Her father, Kenneth Perrine, was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army, and her mother, Winifred McGinley, was a dancer. Due to her father's military career, Perrine spent much of her childhood traveling and lived in various locations, including Japan and Germany.

Perrine began her career as a showgirl in Las Vegas. She made her film debut in the 1971 film Diamonds Are Forever, where she had a minor role. Her breakthrough role came in 1974 when she portrayed Honey Bruce in the biographical film Lenny, directed by Bob Fosse. Her performance was critically acclaimed, earning her an Academy Award for Best Actress nomination and winning the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles.
In 1978, Perrine gained widespread recognition for her role as Eve Teschmacher in Superman, a role she reprised in the 1980 sequel Superman II. She continued to work in both film and television throughout the 1980s and 1990s, appearing in movies such as Can't Stop the Music (1980) and The Border (1982).

Perrine has been open about her struggles with health issues, including a battle with Parkinson's disease. Despite these challenges, she remains active in the entertainment industry and continues to make public appearances.
