- Washington County, often referred to as South County, is the southernmost county in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. As of the 2010 census, the population was 126,979. The county was named after George Washington, the first President of the United States. It is the smallest county in the smallest state in the U.S.

- Washington County is bordered by Kent County to the north, Newport County to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The western border is formed by the Pawcatuck River and the state of Connecticut.
