William Carey University
William Carey University is a private Christian university located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. It was founded in 1906 and is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The university offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs across various fields of study.
History[edit | edit source]
William Carey University was originally established as the Pearl River Boarding School in 1906. It was later renamed to Mississippi Woman's College in 1911. In 1954, the institution became coeducational and was renamed William Carey College in honor of William Carey, a British missionary and a key figure in the modern missionary movement. In 2006, the institution achieved university status and was renamed William Carey University.

William Carey University competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and is a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC). The university's athletic teams are known as the Crusaders. The sports offered include:
