Woodrow Augustus "Woody" Myers Jr. is an American physician and politician. He served as the Indiana State Health Commissioner from 1985 to 1990. Myers is a member of the Democratic Party.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Myers was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He then went on to receive his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Additionally, Myers earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Medical career[edit | edit source]

Myers began his medical career as a physician, specializing in internal medicine. He has held various positions in the healthcare industry, including serving as the Indiana State Health Commissioner from 1985 to 1990. During his tenure, he focused on public health issues such as HIV/AIDS, tobacco control, and maternal and child health.

Political career[edit | edit source]

In addition to his medical career, Myers has been active in politics. He is a member of the Democratic Party and has run for public office. In 2020, he was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Indiana.

Myers resides in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is married and has children.
