The Yalta Conference, also known as the Crimea Conference, was a meeting of the heads of government of the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Soviet Union to discuss the post-World War II reorganization of Europe. The conference took place from 4 to 11 February 1945, at the Livadia Palace near Yalta in the Crimean Peninsula.

The primary objectives of the Yalta Conference were to discuss the re-establishment of the nations of war-torn Europe, the reorganization of Germany, and the establishment of the United Nations.
Key Agreements[edit | edit source]
Several key agreements were made during the conference:
- The division of Germany into four occupation zones controlled by the United States, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and France.
- The establishment of the United Nations with a Security Council consisting of five permanent members.
- The demand for Germany's unconditional surrender.
- The agreement on the Soviet Union's entry into the war against Japan within three months of Germany's surrender.
- The recognition of the Soviet Union's influence over Eastern Europe.

The Yalta Conference had significant outcomes that shaped the post-war world. It laid the groundwork for the Cold War by establishing spheres of influence in Europe. The decisions made at Yalta also led to the division of Germany and the establishment of the Iron Curtain.
