Alprenolol
(Redirected from Yobir)
Alprenolol is a non-selective beta blocker and a non-cardioselective beta-adrenergic antagonist. It was first synthesized in 1967 by the Swedish pharmaceutical company Astra AB, now known as AstraZeneca. Alprenolol is used in the treatment of various cardiovascular disorders, such as hypertension, angina pectoris, and arrhythmia.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Alprenolol works by blocking the action of epinephrine and norepinephrine, two hormones that stimulate the heart and blood vessels. By blocking these hormones, Alprenolol reduces heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart.
Clinical Use[edit | edit source]
Alprenolol is primarily used to treat hypertension and angina pectoris. It is also used to prevent and treat heart arrhythmias and is sometimes used in the treatment of anxiety and migraine.
Side Effects[edit | edit source]
Common side effects of Alprenolol include fatigue, cold hands and feet, slow heartbeat, and sleep disturbances. Less common side effects include depression, shortness of breath, and weight gain.
Contraindications[edit | edit source]
Alprenolol is contraindicated in patients with asthma, bradycardia, and certain types of heart block. It should be used with caution in patients with diabetes or peripheral vascular disease.
