 - a combination of a synthetic antihypertensive phenoxy 2 propanol derivative and a diuretic thiazide used for hypertension, bisoprolol fumarate hydrochlorothiazide acts as a selective beta 1 (cardio) adrenergic antagonist, without membrane stabilizing activity or intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. Hydrochlorothiazide affects renal tubular electrolyte reabsorption, increasing excretion of sodium and chloride. (nci04)
