Watch this video for a good recipe (sorry, its not in English)
How does it taste?[edit | edit source]
Zoervleis is similar to carbonade flamande and hachee.
German name[edit | edit source]
Germans might know it as Sauerbraten in some local variations.
Is it sour?[edit | edit source]
The sour refers to a process of marinading the meat, traditionally horse meat but nowadays commonly beef, in vinegar.
Is it sweet?[edit | edit source]
Despite its name the dish is sweet due to the vinegar being compensated for with apple butter and Dutch gingerbread.
French fries[edit | edit source]
The dish is often accompanied by French fries.
