Βk-2C-B

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Βk-2C-B (also known as beta-keto 2C-B, bk-2C-B, or 2-amino-1-(4-bromo-2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)ethan-1-one) is a psychedelic drug that is structurally related to 2C-B and BOB. It is known for its psychedelic effects and is part of the 2C family of drugs, which also includes substances like 2C-I, 2C-E, and 2C-B-FLY.

History[edit | edit source]

Βk-2C-B was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin, a renowned chemist and psychopharmacologist, who documented its synthesis and effects in his book PiHKAL (Phenethylamines I Have Known And Loved). Shulgin's work has been instrumental in the study of psychedelic phenethylamines, contributing to the understanding of their structure-activity relationships.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

Βk-2C-B is believed to act as a serotonin receptor agonist, similar to other psychedelic phenethylamines. It is thought to produce its effects by binding to and activating the 5-HT2A receptor, the primary target of psychedelic drugs. However, the exact mechanism of action is not fully understood, and further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of Βk-2C-B can vary greatly depending on the dose, the individual's physiology, and the context in which it is used. Common effects reported by users include visual hallucinations, altered thinking processes, and heightened emotions. Some users also report experiencing synesthesia, a phenomenon in which one sensory pathway (e.g., hearing) leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory pathway (e.g., vision).

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

The legal status of Βk-2C-B varies by country. In some countries, it is classified as a controlled substance, making its possession, sale, or use illegal. In others, it is legal or unregulated. It is always important to be aware of the legal status of any substance in your jurisdiction before deciding to use it.
