4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone (also known as 4F-PVP) is a stimulant drug of the cathinone and pyrrolidine chemical classes. It is chemically related to pyrovalerone, a drug with similar but not identical effects.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone is a synthetic cathinone. Synthetic cathinones are derivatives of the naturally occurring amphetamine-like compound cathinone, which is found in the Khat plant. The chemical structure of 4F-PVP features a phenyl ring bound to an amino (NH2) group through an ethyl chain with a ketone in the beta position. It also has a fluorine atom at the 4 position of the phenyl ring.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

As a member of the cathinone class, 4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone is believed to function as a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI). It prevents the reuptake of these neurotransmitters by the neurons that released them, leading to an increased concentration of these neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft and therefore increased neurotransmission.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of 4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone can vary greatly depending on the dose, the user's individual physiology, and the method of administration. However, common effects reported by users include stimulation, increased focus, euphoria, and increased sociability. Some users also report experiencing negative effects such as anxiety, paranoia, and insomnia.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

The legal status of 4'-Fluoro-α-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone varies by country. In some countries, it is a controlled substance, while in others it is legal to possess for personal use.
