5-Fluoro-AMT

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellnesspedia

5-Fluoro-AMT (also known as 5-Fluoro-alpha-methyltryptamine) is a psychedelic and hallucinogenic drug that is structurally related to alpha-Methyltryptamine (AMT) and tryptamine. It is classified as a research chemical and is not commonly used recreationally due to its relatively unknown safety profile and effects.

Chemistry[edit | edit source]

5-Fluoro-AMT is a fluorinated derivative of AMT. It belongs to the class of tryptamines, which are compounds derived from the amino acid tryptophan. The chemical structure of 5-Fluoro-AMT consists of a indole ring, which is a bicyclic structure consisting of a six-membered benzene ring fused to a five-membered nitrogen-containing pyrrole ring. Attached to this indole ring is a two-carbon side chain ending in an amino (NH2) group, hence the name "tryptamine".

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

The exact mechanism of action of 5-Fluoro-AMT is not fully understood. However, it is believed to act as a serotonin receptor agonist, similar to other psychedelic tryptamines. This means it binds to and activates certain serotonin receptors in the brain, which can result in hallucinogenic effects. It may also have activity at other receptor sites in the brain.

Effects[edit | edit source]

The effects of 5-Fluoro-AMT can vary greatly depending on the dose, individual physiology, and set and setting. Some reported effects include hallucinations, altered perception of time, enhanced introspection, and emotional amplification. However, due to its status as a research chemical, these effects are not well-studied and can vary greatly between individuals.

Safety[edit | edit source]

The safety profile of 5-Fluoro-AMT is largely unknown due to its status as a research chemical. It is advised to use caution when using this substance due to the potential for unpredictable effects and the lack of information about its long-term effects on the brain and body.

Legal Status[edit | edit source]

The legal status of 5-Fluoro-AMT varies by country. In some countries, it is classified as a controlled substance, while in others it may be legal to possess for personal use.
