Agnes Milowka

Agnes Milowka (23 December 1981 – 27 February 2011) was a Australian technical diver, underwater photographer, author, maritime archaeologist and explorer. She gained international recognition for penetrating further into cave systems than previous explorers.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Milowka was born in Melbourne, Australia. She developed a passion for the underwater world from a young age. She studied at La Trobe University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeology and History.

Career[edit | edit source]

Milowka's career was diverse and included significant contributions to a number of fields. She was a prolific underwater diver, known for her work in cave diving and exploration. She contributed to the exploration of Tank Cave in Mount Gambier, and her work has been featured in a number of diving publications.

In addition to her diving work, Milowka was also an accomplished underwater photographer. Her photographs have been published in numerous magazines and used in various exhibitions.

As a maritime archaeologist, Milowka worked on a number of significant projects. She was involved in the excavation of the Batavia shipwreck off the coast of Western Australia, and she also worked on the HMVS Cerberus project.

Death[edit | edit source]

Milowka died on 27 February 2011 while diving in Tank Cave at Mount Gambier.
