Aligarh Muslim University
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is a public central university located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was originally established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875 and gained university status in 1920. AMU is an institution of national importance under the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution of India and has played a crucial role in the development of modern education for Muslims in India.
