Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) is a professional medical honor society recognized internationally. Founded in 1902, the society's mission is to recognize and advocate for excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals in the profession of medicine.

Alpha Omega Alpha was established on August 25, 1902, by William Webster Root and a group of student colleagues at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Chicago, Illinois. Root was inspired by the idea of creating a society that would not only foster academic excellence but also promote a high standard of character among medical students and physicians.

Membership in Alpha Omega Alpha is a significant honor in the field of medicine.
