The Alzheimer's Association is a non-profit organization in the United States that aims to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.

The Alzheimer's Association was founded in 1980 by a group of family caregivers and individuals who recognized the need for an organization that would be a source of information and support for those struggling with Alzheimer's disease.
Mission[edit | edit source]
The mission of the Alzheimer's Association is to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
Research[edit | edit source]
The Alzheimer's Association is the largest non-profit funder of Alzheimer's disease research. The Association is committed to accelerating the global progress of new treatments, preventions and ultimately, a cure. It offers grants for investigator-initiated research projects and provides support for meetings and conferences.
Services[edit | edit source]
The Alzheimer's Association provides a variety of services to support people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, their families and caregivers. These services include a 24/7 Helpline, care consultation, education programs, support groups, and safety services.
Advocacy[edit | edit source]
The Alzheimer's Association advocates for the needs and rights of those facing Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. The Association works at the federal, state and local levels to increase awareness and funding for Alzheimer's research and care.
