Amy Acton is an American physician and public health official who gained national recognition for her role in managing the COVID-19 pandemic in Ohio. She served as the Director of the Ohio Department of Health from 2019 to 2020.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Amy Acton was born in Youngstown, Ohio. She pursued her undergraduate studies at Youngstown State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Acton then attended the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (now known as Northeast Ohio Medical University), where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. She also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from The Ohio State University.
