History

The Anchor brand was established in the late 19th century by Henry Reynolds, an English immigrant to New Zealand. Reynolds started a butter factory in 1886 and chose the name 'Anchor' as a symbol of stability and strength. The brand quickly gained popularity, and by the early 20th century, Anchor butter was being exported to the United Kingdom and other parts of the world.

In 2001, the Anchor brand became a part of the Fonterra Co-operative Group, following the merger of several New Zealand dairy companies.
