- Ashville was originally settled in the early 19th century. The village was named after Ashville, North Carolina, the hometown of a first settler. The village was incorporated in 1902.

- Ashville is located at 39°43′22″N 82°57′23″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.03 square miles, all land.
