Beate Hartinger-Klein (born 9 September 1959) is an Austrian politician who served as the Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection from 2017 to 2019. She is a member of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Hartinger-Klein was born in Graz, Austria. She studied at the University of Graz, where she earned a degree in business administration.

Career[edit | edit source]

Before entering politics, Hartinger-Klein worked in various roles within the healthcare sector. She held positions in hospital management and health insurance companies.

Political career[edit | edit source]

Hartinger-Klein joined the Freedom Party of Austria and was appointed as the Minister of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection in the government of Chancellor Sebastian Kurz on 18 December 2017. During her tenure, she focused on reforms in the healthcare system, social welfare policies, and consumer protection laws.

She served in this role until 3 June 2019, when she was succeeded by Brigitte Zarfl.

Hartinger-Klein is married and has two children.
