Bel Group was founded in 1865 by Jules Bel, a cheese maker from the Jura region in France. The company initially specialized in the production of Comté cheese, a traditional French cheese. In 1921, Bel Group introduced its first major brand, The Laughing Cow, which quickly gained popularity due to its unique taste and packaging.
