Billy West (born April 16, 1952) is an American voice actor, comedian, singer, and musician. He is best known for his voice-work in animation and radio. His most notable roles include the title characters in Doug and The Ren & Stimpy Show, as well as Philip J. Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg, and Zapp Brannigan in Futurama.

Billy West was born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He developed an interest in music and comedy at an early age, performing in various bands and comedy clubs.

Radio[edit | edit source]

West began his career in radio in the 1980s, working on The Howard Stern Show from 1989 to 1995. His work on the show included impersonations of celebrities and original characters.

Animation[edit | edit source]

West's breakthrough in animation came with his work on Doug and The Ren & Stimpy Show. On Doug, he voiced the title character, Doug Funnie, and on The Ren & Stimpy Show, he voiced both Ren Höek and Stimpy J. Cat after the departure of John Kricfalusi.

In 1999, West began voicing multiple characters on the Matt Groening-created series Futurama. His roles on the show include Philip J. Fry, Professor Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg, and Zapp Brannigan. West's versatility and range have made him one of the most respected voice actors in the industry.
