Bradley J. Wilk (born September 5, 1968) is an American musician and actor, best known as the drummer for the rock bands Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and Prophets of Rage. He has also performed with Black Sabbath and The Last Internationale.
Early life[edit | edit source]
Brad Wilk was born in Portland, Oregon, and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He began playing the drums at a young age and was influenced by bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Sex Pistols.
Career[edit | edit source]
Rage Against the Machine[edit | edit source]
In 1991, Wilk joined Rage Against the Machine, a band that combined elements of rap, rock, and funk. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1992, which included hits like "Killing in the Name" and "Bombtrack". Rage Against the Machine became known for their politically charged lyrics and energetic live performances.
Audioslave[edit | edit source]
After Rage Against the Machine disbanded in 2000, Wilk, along with bandmates Tom Morello and Tim Commerford, formed Audioslave with former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell. Audioslave released three albums: Audioslave (2002), Out of Exile (2005), and Revelations (2006).
Prophets of Rage[edit | edit source]
In 2016, Wilk joined Prophets of Rage, a supergroup consisting of members from Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill. The band aimed to address social and political issues through their music.
Other projects[edit | edit source]
Wilk has also played with Black Sabbath during their final tour and has been involved with The Last Internationale. In addition to his music career, he has appeared in several films and television shows.
Personal life[edit | edit source]
Wilk is an advocate for various social and political causes. He is also known for his interest in health and fitness.
