Bronson Xerri
Bronson Xerri (born 10 September 2000) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who last played as a centre for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in the National Rugby League (NRL).
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Bronson Xerri was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He played his junior rugby league for the Aquinas Colts before being signed by the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.
Playing Career[edit | edit source]
Xerri made his NRL debut for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in Round 4 of the 2019 NRL season against the Parramatta Eels. He quickly established himself as a talented young player, known for his speed and agility.
2019 Season[edit | edit source]
In his debut season, Xerri played 22 games and scored 13 tries. His performances earned him a spot in the NRL Rookie Team of the Year.
2020 Season[edit | edit source]
Xerri was set to continue his promising career in the 2020 season. However, in May 2020, he was provisionally suspended by the NRL after testing positive for banned substances. The suspension was a significant setback in his career.
Doping Suspension[edit | edit source]
In November 2020, Xerri was handed a four-year ban from all sports by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) after testing positive for exogenous Testosterone. The ban is set to end in November 2023.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Xerri attended De La Salle College, Cronulla, where he balanced his education with his burgeoning rugby league career.
