Walter Bruce Willis (born March 19, 1955) is a retired American actor and film producer. Known for his versatile roles in both action films and comedy, Willis has had a significant impact on the film industry.

Bruce Willis was born in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, where his father was stationed as a soldier. His family moved to Carneys Point Township, New Jersey, when he was two years old. Willis attended Penns Grove High School and later studied drama at Montclair State University.

Willis began his acting career in off-Broadway productions and gained initial fame with his role in the television series Moonlighting (1985–1989), for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award.

Willis's breakthrough role came with the action film Die Hard (1988), where he played John McClane, a role he reprised in four sequels. His performance established him as a leading action star.
