Bulmers is a brand of cider produced by H. P. Bulmer, a cider-making company founded in Hereford, England in 1887. The company was founded by Henry Percival Bulmer, who started making cider from apples grown in the orchard at his family home.
History[edit | edit source]
H. P. Bulmer began producing cider in 1887, and the company quickly grew to become one of the largest cider producers in the world. The company is known for its innovative production techniques and was one of the first to use pasteurization to stabilize cider.
In 2003, Scottish & Newcastle acquired Bulmers, and in 2008, the company became part of Heineken following Heineken's acquisition of Scottish & Newcastle.
Products[edit | edit source]
Bulmers produces a variety of ciders, including:
- Bulmers Original - A traditional apple cider with an ABV of 4.5%.
- Bulmers Pear - A pear cider with a refreshing taste.
- Bulmers Red Berries & Lime - A fruit cider with a blend of red berries and lime.
Production[edit | edit source]
Bulmers ciders are made using a blend of different apple varieties, including Dabinett, Michelin, and Bramley. The production process involves pressing the apples to extract the juice, which is then fermented and matured to develop the cider's flavor.
