CXCR6
CXCR6 is a gene that in humans is encoded by the CXCR6 gene. It is also known as Bonzo, STRL33 and TYMSTR, and is a member of the CXC chemokine receptor family.
Function[edit | edit source]
The CXCR6 gene encodes a G protein-coupled receptor that binds the chemokine CXCL16. This receptor is expressed in T cells and is known to mediate cell migration.
Clinical significance[edit | edit source]
CXCR6 has been implicated in a variety of diseases. It is overexpressed in several types of cancer, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colorectal cancer. In addition, it plays a role in inflammation and autoimmune diseases.
