Carla Hall is an American chef and television personality. She was born on May 12, 1964, in Nashville, Tennessee. Hall is best known for her appearances on the cooking competition show Top Chef and as a co-host on the talk show The Chew.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Hall grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, where she developed a passion for cooking from a young age. She attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she graduated with a degree in accounting.
Career[edit | edit source]
After working as an accountant for several years, Hall decided to pursue her true passion for cooking. She enrolled in L'Academie de Cuisine in Maryland and graduated with a culinary degree. She then worked in several restaurants in the Washington, D.C. area, honing her skills and gaining experience.
In 2008, Hall gained national recognition when she competed on the fifth season of Top Chef. Although she did not win the competition, her talent and vibrant personality made her a fan favorite. This led to numerous opportunities in the culinary world.
Hall went on to become a co-host on the daytime talk show The Chew, which aired from 2011 to 2018. On the show, she showcased her cooking skills and shared her love for food with a wide audience. She also published several cookbooks, including Carla Hall's Soul Food: Everyday and Celebration.

Hall is married to Matthew Lyons, and the couple resides in Washington, D.C. She is known for her infectious laughter and positive attitude, which have endeared her to fans around the world.
