Catherine, Princess of Wales

Catherine, Princess of Wales (born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton; 9 January 1982) is a member of the British royal family. She is married to William, Prince of Wales, the heir apparent to the British throne, making her likely to become the next Queen consort.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Catherine was born at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berkshire, and grew up in the village of Chapel Row, part of Bucklebury parish. She is the eldest of three children born to Michael Middleton and Carole Middleton. Catherine was educated at St Andrew's School, Pangbourne, Downe House School, and Marlborough College. She later studied at the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland, where she met Prince William in 2001.

Relationship with Prince William[edit | edit source]

Catherine and William's relationship began while they were both students at the University of St Andrews. Their engagement was announced on 16 November 2010, and they were married on 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey. Upon her marriage, Catherine became known as Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, and the accession of King Charles III, Catherine assumed the title of Princess of Wales.

Public Life and Charity Work[edit | edit source]

As a senior member of the British royal family, Catherine undertakes numerous public engagements and charitable activities. She is particularly known for her work in the areas of early childhood development, mental health, and addiction. Catherine is a patron of several organizations, including Action for Children, the National Portrait Gallery, London, and the Anna Freud Centre.

Personal Interests[edit | edit source]

Catherine has a keen interest in photography and has taken official portraits of her children. She also enjoys sports and is an avid supporter of various sporting events and initiatives.

Titles, Styles, and Arms[edit | edit source]

Since her marriage, Catherine has held several titles, including Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn, and Lady Carrickfergus. Her full title is Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn, and Baroness Carrickfergus.

Catherine and William have three children: Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales, and Prince Louis of Wales. The family resides at Kensington Palace in London and Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
