Background[edit | edit source]

The Clyde Cancer Cluster was first identified in 2006 when the Ohio Department of Health noticed an unusually high number of childhood cancer cases in the Clyde area. The cluster included a variety of cancer types, but the most common were leukemia and brain cancer. Over the course of the investigation, a total of 35 cases were identified.

Investigation[edit | edit source]

The investigation into the Clyde Cancer Cluster was carried out by several agencies, including the Ohio Department of Health, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The investigation focused on potential environmental causes, such as exposure to hazardous waste or contaminated water. However, no definitive cause was ever identified.

Impact[edit | edit source]

The Clyde Cancer Cluster had a significant impact on the local community. Many families were affected by the loss of a child, and the community as a whole experienced a sense of fear and uncertainty. The cluster also led to a number of lawsuits against local industries, although none of these resulted in a definitive link to the cancer cases.
