DA-EPOCH-R
DA-EPOCH-R is a chemotherapy regimen used for the treatment of certain types of cancer, including Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Burkitt lymphoma. The regimen includes the drugs Doxorubicin, Etoposide, Prednisone, Oncovin, Cyclophosphamide, and Rituximab.
Components[edit | edit source]
The DA-EPOCH-R regimen consists of the following drugs:
- Doxorubicin - An anthracycline antibiotic that works by intercalating DNA.
- Etoposide - A topoisomerase inhibitor that prevents DNA from unwinding, thus inhibiting DNA replication.
- Prednisone - A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and suppresses the immune system.
- Oncovin (Vincristine) - A vinca alkaloid that inhibits mitosis in metaphase.
- Cyclophosphamide - An alkylating agent that prevents cell division by cross-linking DNA strands.
- Rituximab - A monoclonal antibody that targets the CD20 antigen on B cells.
Treatment Schedule[edit | edit source]
The DA-EPOCH-R regimen is typically administered in 21-day cycles. The exact schedule and dosage may vary depending on the patient's condition and the type of cancer being treated.
Side Effects[edit | edit source]
Like all chemotherapy regimens, DA-EPOCH-R can cause side effects. These may include nausea, vomiting, hair loss, fatigue, and neutropenia. Patients should discuss potential side effects with their healthcare provider before starting treatment.
