From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Dahi Machha is a traditional Odia dish from the Indian state of Odisha. It is a fish curry, where 'Dahi' means yogurt and 'Machha' means fish in Odia. The dish is prepared using fish marinated in a mixture of yogurt and spices, then cooked until tender.

Ingredients[edit | edit source]

The main ingredients of Dahi Machha are fish, yogurt, turmeric, cumin, coriander, chilli powder, and mustard oil. Other ingredients may include garlic, ginger, onions, and green chillies. The type of fish used can vary, but Rohu and Catla are commonly used in Odisha.

Preparation[edit | edit source]

The preparation of Dahi Machha involves marinating the fish in a mixture of yogurt and spices for a few hours. The fish is then fried in mustard oil until it is golden brown. A separate sauce is prepared using the remaining marinade, additional yogurt, and other spices. The fried fish is added to this sauce and simmered until it is tender and the flavors are well combined.
