Department Of Public Health (Myanmar) is the primary public health agency in Myanmar, also known as Burma. It is a department under the Ministry of Health and Sports, responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of the citizens of Myanmar.

The Department Of Public Health was established in the early 20th century, during the British colonial rule. It was initially a part of the Ministry of Health, which was later restructured into the Ministry of Health and Sports in 2016.

Functions[edit | edit source]

The Department Of Public Health is responsible for the implementation of various health programs and initiatives in the country. It oversees the healthcare system in Myanmar, including hospitals, clinics, and health centers. The department also coordinates with international health organizations such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund.

Structure[edit | edit source]

The Department Of Public Health is headed by a Director-General, who is appointed by the Minister of Health and Sports. The department is divided into several divisions, each responsible for a specific area of public health, such as epidemiology, health promotion, and disease prevention.

Challenges[edit | edit source]

Despite its efforts, the Department Of Public Health faces several challenges in improving the health status of the Myanmar population. These include a lack of resources, inadequate infrastructure, and a high burden of communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases.
