Dermatology Online Journal
Dermatology Online Journal (DOJ) is an open access, peer-reviewed, medical journal that publishes scientific and clinically relevant information on all aspects of cutaneous biology and skin disease. It is the first electronic dermatology journal in the world, established in 1995.
History[edit | edit source]
The Dermatology Online Journal was established in 1995 by Arthur C. Huntley, MD, and Bruce E. Onofrey, OD, at the University of California, Davis. The journal was created to provide a platform for the rapid dissemination of high-quality research and clinical observations in the field of dermatology.
Content[edit | edit source]
The DOJ publishes original research articles, case reports, reviews, commentaries, and letters to the editor. The journal covers all aspects of skin disease, including clinical dermatology, dermatopathology, dermatosurgery, and basic science research in cutaneous biology.
Open Access[edit | edit source]
As an open access journal, all content in the DOJ is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.
Peer Review[edit | edit source]
The DOJ operates a rigorous peer review process. All submitted manuscripts are initially assessed by the editor for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable are then sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper.
Impact[edit | edit source]
The Dermatology Online Journal has been instrumental in the advancement of dermatology by providing a platform for the rapid dissemination of high-quality research and clinical observations. It has also played a significant role in promoting open access publishing in the field of dermatology.
