Dexbudesonide
Dexbudesonide is a glucocorticoid used in the treatment of various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. It is a synthetic corticosteroid that works by reducing inflammation and suppressing the body's immune response.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Dexbudesonide is a potent glucocorticoid that binds to the glucocorticoid receptor with high affinity. It exerts its effects by modulating gene expression, leading to a decrease in the production of inflammatory mediators. This results in a reduction of inflammation and a suppression of the immune response.
Clinical Use[edit | edit source]
Dexbudesonide is used in the treatment of a variety of conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It is also used in the management of allergic rhinitis and nasal polyps.
Side Effects[edit | edit source]
Like other glucocorticoids, dexbudesonide can cause a range of side effects. These can include weight gain, osteoporosis, glaucoma, and Cushing's syndrome. It can also suppress the adrenal glands, leading to adrenal insufficiency.
