Doctor Fate (Khalid Nassour) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He is one of the several characters who have taken up the mantle of Doctor Fate, a powerful sorcerer and agent of the Lords of Order.

Publication history[edit | edit source]

Khalid Nassour first appeared in Doctor Fate (vol. 4) #1 in June 2015. He was created by writer Paul Levitz and artist Sonny Liew. Khalid is notable for being one of the few Muslim superheroes in mainstream American comics.

Fictional character biography[edit | edit source]

Khalid Nassour is a young medical student of Egyptian descent living in Brooklyn, New York City. He is chosen by the ancient Egyptian deity Nabu to become the new Doctor Fate. Khalid struggles to balance his responsibilities as a medical student and his duties as a superhero.

Becoming Doctor Fate[edit | edit source]

Khalid discovers the Helmet of Fate, an ancient artifact that grants him immense magical powers. With the guidance of Nabu, Khalid learns to harness these powers to fight against supernatural threats and protect the world from mystical dangers.

Justice League Dark[edit | edit source]

Khalid eventually joins the Justice League Dark, a team of superheroes specializing in combating magical and supernatural threats. He works alongside other magical heroes such as John Constantine, Zatanna, and Swamp Thing.

As Doctor Fate, Khalid possesses a wide array of magical abilities, including:

  • Mastery of magic: Khalid can cast powerful spells and perform various magical feats.
  • Flight: He can levitate and fly at high speeds.
