Edgar Holland Winter (born December 28, 1946) is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is known for his unique blend of rock, blues, jazz, and pop genres. Winter is the younger brother of Johnny Winter, a renowned blues guitarist.

Edgar Winter was born in Beaumont, Texas, and he and his brother Johnny were both born with albinism. This condition made them sensitive to light, which influenced their indoor activities, including music. Edgar showed an early interest in music and was proficient in several instruments by his teenage years.

In 1972, Winter formed The Edgar Winter Group, which included Rick Derringer and Dan Hartman. The band is best known for their hit single "Frankenstein" and the popular song "Free Ride." "Frankenstein" is particularly notable for its innovative use of synthesizers and its complex structure.
