Dr. Ephraim Sneh



Efraim Sneh (born 19 September 1944) is an Israeli physician, politician, and a retired Brigadier General in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). He has held several key positions in the Israeli government, including Minister of Health, Minister of Transportation, and Deputy Minister of Defense.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Efraim Sneh was born in Tel Aviv during the period of the British Mandate for Palestine. He is the son of Moshe Sneh, a prominent figure in the Haganah and later a member of the Knesset.

Sneh attended Tel Aviv University, where he studied medicine. He later specialized in internal medicine and became a practicing physician.

Military Career[edit | edit source]

Sneh joined the Israel Defense Forces and rose to the rank of Brigadier General. During his military career, he held several significant positions, including the head of the Civil Administration in the West Bank and commander of the Judea and Samaria Division.

Minister of Health[edit | edit source]

In 1994, Sneh was appointed as the Minister of Health, a position he held until 1996. During his tenure, he focused on improving the healthcare system in Israel and addressing public health issues.

Minister of Transportation[edit | edit source]

Sneh served as the Minister of Transportation from 2001 to 2002. In this role, he worked on enhancing Israel's transportation infrastructure and improving road safety.

Deputy Minister of Defense[edit | edit source]

Sneh was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Defense twice, first from 1999 to 2001 and then from 2006 to 2007. In this capacity, he was involved in defense policy and military operations.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Efraim Sneh is married and has three children. He continues to be active in public life and contributes to discussions on security and healthcare issues in Israel.
