Eternal Love Winning Africa Hospital
Eternal Love Winning Africa Hospital (also known as ELWA Hospital) is a hospital located in Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia. It is a prominent healthcare institution in the region, known for its commitment to providing quality medical services to the local population.
History[edit | edit source]
The hospital was established in 1965 by the Eternal Love Winning Africa (ELWA) mission, a Christian organization that has been active in Liberia since 1952. The mission's primary goal was to spread the gospel through radio broadcasting, but it soon expanded its activities to include healthcare services, leading to the establishment of the ELWA Hospital.
Facilities and Services[edit | edit source]
ELWA Hospital is equipped with a range of medical facilities, including an emergency department, surgical ward, maternity ward, and pediatric ward. The hospital also has a laboratory for diagnostic tests and a pharmacy for dispensing medications.
The hospital provides a variety of medical services, such as general medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and orthopedics. It also offers specialized services like physiotherapy and radiology.
Role in the Ebola Outbreak[edit | edit source]
During the 2014-2016 West Africa Ebola outbreak, ELWA Hospital played a crucial role in combating the disease. The hospital housed one of the few Ebola treatment units in the country and was at the forefront of the fight against the deadly virus.
Future Plans[edit | edit source]
ELWA Hospital continues to expand its services and improve its facilities. The hospital plans to establish a medical training program to educate the next generation of healthcare professionals in Liberia.
