History[edit | edit source]

The Euan MacDonald Centre was established in 2007 by Euan MacDonald, a businessman diagnosed with MND, and his father Donald MacDonald. Their aim was to create a centre of excellence for MND research, bringing together scientists and clinicians from across the world to work towards finding a cure for the disease.

Research[edit | edit source]

The centre's research focuses on understanding the causes of MND, developing new treatments, and improving the quality of life for people living with the disease. This includes studies into the genetic factors that contribute to MND, the development of new drug therapies, and research into supportive care and rehabilitation.

Collaboration[edit | edit source]

The Euan MacDonald Centre collaborates with other research institutions and organisations worldwide. This includes partnerships with the MND Association, the European Network for the Cure of ALS (ENCALS), and the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations.

Funding[edit | edit source]

The centre is funded through a combination of private donations, grants from research bodies, and fundraising activities. The Euan MacDonald Foundation is a major contributor, providing funds for research projects, PhD scholarships, and equipment.
