Eurotransplant

Eurotransplant is an international non-profit organization that facilitates patient-oriented allocation and cross-border exchange of deceased donor organs. It was founded in 1967 by Jon J. van Rood and its headquarters are located in Leiden, the Netherlands. Jon J. van Rood, a Dutch immunologist, founded Eurotransplant in 1967. The organization was established to improve the allocation of deceased donor organs and to facilitate cross-border organ exchange. The headquarters of Eurotransplant are located in Leiden, the Netherlands.

Eurotransplant encompasses eight member countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Slovenia. These countries collaborate to ensure the most efficient use of available organs, maximizing the chances of successful transplants.

The primary function of Eurotransplant is to coordinate and facilitate the allocation of deceased donor organs to patients on the waiting list in its member countries.
