Eusébio da Silva Ferreira (25 January 19425 January 2014), commonly known as Eusébio, was a Portuguese footballer who played as a forward. He is considered one of the greatest footballers of all time. Born in Mozambique, which was a Portuguese colony at the time, Eusébio moved to Portugal to play for S.L. Benfica, where he spent the majority of his career.

Eusébio was born in the Mafalala neighbourhood of Maputo, Mozambique. His talent was discovered when he played for a local youth team in his hometown. His move to Portugal in 1960 was met with excitement and anticipation.

Eusébio's career at S.L. Benfica was marked by numerous achievements, including winning the European Cup in 1962. He scored two goals in the final against Real Madrid, showcasing his exceptional skill and earning him international acclaim.
