Example (born Elliot John Gleave on 20 June 1982) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known for his work in the genres of electronic music, hip hop, and dance music. Example first gained prominence with the release of his second studio album, Won't Go Quietly, which included the hit singles "Watch the Sun Come Up" and "Kickstarts".

Example was born in Hammersmith, London, and grew up in Fulham. He attended All Saints Primary School and later ADT College in Wandsworth. He developed an interest in music at a young age and began writing songs during his teenage years.

Early Career[edit | edit source]

Example's career began in the early 2000s when he started releasing music independently. His debut album, What We Made, was released in 2007 and included the single "You Can't Rap". Although the album did not achieve significant commercial success, it helped establish Example as a rising artist in the UK music scene.

Breakthrough and Success[edit | edit source]

Example's breakthrough came with his second album, Won't Go Quietly, released in 2010. The album reached number four on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry. The singles "Watch the Sun Come Up" and "Kickstarts" both charted in the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart.

His third album, Playing in the Shadows, released in 2011, debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. The album featured the hit singles "Changed the Way You Kiss Me" and "Stay Awake", both of which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.

Example has continued to release music and tour extensively. His subsequent albums include The Evolution of Man (2012), Live Life Living (2014), and Bangers & Ballads (2018). He remains an influential figure in the electronic and dance music scenes.

Example married Australian model and actress Erin McNaught in 2013. The couple has two children. Example is known for his active presence on social media, where he frequently engages with fans and shares updates about his music and personal life.
