Farmington Hills is a city in Oakland County, Michigan, United States. It is part of the northern suburbs of Metro Detroit and is the second most populous city in the county after the city of Troy.

Farmington Hills was originally incorporated as a township in 1926. It became a city in 1973. The city's history is closely tied to that of Farmington, a community that was founded in 1824 and is now surrounded by Farmington Hills.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Farmington Hills is located in southeastern Michigan, approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown Detroit. The city is bordered by West Bloomfield Township to the west, Southfield to the east, Novi to the north, and Livonia to the south.
